Recorded for the Peace Through Strength Compilation.
Peace Through Strength is a Pittsburgh based group that puts on benefit shows revolving around current issues.
All money from this comp is donated to Dreams of Hope, a non profit arts organization for queer youth. Something very dear to me and hits home hard.

This track is about growing up queer and hiding from it thinking my feelings were wrong. A lot of queer kids end their own lives because were told growing up that feeling certain ways is wrong even when it's not. Sometimes its hard to relate to the world and you feel empty and alone.
I feel as being someone who grew up queer but closeted and suicidal this song was important for me to write and share.
Queer youth need to know they are not alone and they are loved.
You are important and loved.

They want us to die. Stay quiet with the life that they provide but that isn't what I see as life.
For years my mouth was shut, ashamed of who I was inside.
A closet full of skeletons and shame and lies.
Attracted to the ones you were told not to love.
They say you have the devils tongue yet I see angels in your eyes.

How many times did they make you cry?
Their smirks and bad words made you think you wanted to die.
Deep inside you chose to live your true life.
When will you find the strength to walk with all that pride?
I waited too many years to push aside the skeletons and the shame and the lies.
